Background Information
I've always had a soft spot for throwback pop-rock (some say PowerPop) songs that have a bit of cheese sprinkled on top, so I guess that "Heartbreaker" is my take on that style. This song is about a relationship in which both people make each other miserable but they can’t find a way to end it.
I'm not sure what inspired this one… it came on the guitar and came quickly and seemingly out of nowhere. As with all of the songs on my album, I played, recorded and mixed all of the parts in my house. Below are some videos that I put together to show the song being made. The first shows some of the stages that I went through in order to get this song (and the others) from idea to fully realized and finished recordings. The second shows me recording a part of the song. The last one is just the vocal parts by themselves.
