Background Information

After recording the original version of this song, I felt compelled to create an acoustic rendition that stripped everything down to its core—bringing the raw emotion and depth of the lyrics to the forefront. I've always dreamed of incorporating real string arrangements into my music, as they bring an unmatched emotional weight. This acoustic version is the first time I've brought that vision to life, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the result.

The strings were performed and recorded by Pablo Hopenhayn and eSession Strings from Los Angeles, who delivered an outstanding performance. Hearing their recorded parts for the first time was a deeply moving experience and one that resonated emotionally on a profound level.

For the video, I was once again able to take advantage of some of the great footage that my dad captured of my youth, along with footage shot by Vince Radostitz at the Reser Center when we filmed for the regular version of the song. There’s also footage at the end that was shot by my daughter during the drive from Oregon to North Dakota.

Lyrics

"Then You Fly"

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you

I’m tearing up inside

I’m gonna try not to hurt you

I hope you’ll be alright

And when your dreams start to fail you

You keep it all inside

And then your tears start to break through

There’s nothing left to hide

Well then you fly

To make it all better

Well then you fly

To make it all better

Ah-ah-ah-ah

And when your fears start to come true

You feel it in the night

And when it hurts just to be you

It’s hard to see the light

So many dreams to live up to

You’re never satisfied

So let the pain try to heal you

I know you’ll be alright

Well then you fly

to make it all better

Well then you fly

to make it all better

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Ah-ah-ah-hey

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Won’t you feel me?

Won’t you need me?

Won’t you leave me?

Can you heal me?

I’m coming home

(When you feel me)

I’m coming home

(When you need me)

I’m coming home

(When you heal me)

I’m coming home

(When you save me)

I’m coming home

(When you feel me)

I’m coming home

(When you need me)

I’m coming home

(When you heal me)

I’m coming home

(When you save me)

I’m coming home
